Iv tried the search on this and I cant find the answer im looking for. If I have a 77 corvette with a new 355 crate engine with a 1991 camaro ecm and map sensor. Im going to reprogram the computer so what data do I use? All the research iv seen starts with a factory setting and improves on that. Where do I start?
Save your time and just order what you want from Jim Formatto....hope the spelling is correct, he is in the Carolinas region as I recall, he did my last chip in my 355 roller engine speed density #1227730 computer....runs like a charm.....I advise to stick with the stock L98 cam too....can't trust any aftermarket cams, and especially that POS ZZ9 cam from TPIS in Minn.......
I played around with that for a while. It was fun. Learned a lot. I would not do it again because there are so many good self learning systems.
I was using a 730 ECM, I suppose that's what you have.
Anyway, I replaced that system with a TPI retrofit FAST EZ-EFI 2.0 and it's fantastic. Just something to consider.

Currently toying with the systems to do this on my 87 Chevy truck, if you have the patients and desire to learn head over to www.gearhead-efi.com lots of good info about tuning those old ecms. If you dont want to mess wioth it pay someone to burn you a chip or get a newer system.

I went to gearhead and found the info I needed. Thanks
I had (have) an Autoprom, ZIF Socket, and I bought and burned chips from them. All good stuff.
Unless you really want to spend time and/or learn how to play with programming you may want to consider other options, otherwise you're going to spend a lot of time doing this.
I did it for about 8 years.... I'm not a pro, and I could only do it now and then, and it was fun - however, once I went to the self-learning EZ-EFI 2.0 I realized that it was a lot of effort and I was not as good as the new fast computers. It was a lot of fun to learn though. See below for autoprom and other stuff.
And here's the link for diy prom at third gen dot org. Lots of info there, I learned a lot there and made a lot of modifications per that forum. http://www.thirdgen.org/forums/diy-prom/
