What books would you folks recommend as must-haves for restoring a c3?
I have a 74 assembly manual and plan on picking up a Haynes manual. Also....where is the best (cheapest) places to order from?
Although not a technical book for restoring a C3, I still consider this a "must have" for a Vette enthusiast's library - "Zora Arkus-Duntov: The Legend Behind the Corvette"
-two C3 restoration books, one my Richard Newton, other by Richard Prince.
-Q-Jets, by Doug Roe
-'74 GM Service Manual, from Helm's
-Corvette Fever mag has good 'how-to' articles

Re: Help me build my c3 library (1LE)
I have
How To Restore and Modify Your Corvette 1698-1982 by Richard Newton.
Chevrolet Corvette Restoration by Lindsay Porter.
Original Corvette The Restorer`s Guide 1968-1982 by Tom Falconer
I have several more here but these, to me, are my favs.
How to rebuild a chevrolet sb... i think it is a hotrod magazine book...
Then Smokey Yunik; how to make serious horsepower (or something to that nature :jester ) by forget who...
Two great books... not quite vette related, but the ones the other guys told ya about were already taken :smash:
I saw this link and said "what the heck, let me call GM." As promised, in two months I got a huge packet of restoration reference material. Worth the effort to call.
In addition to the many restoration books you will likely find on the web, you should consider the Assebly Instruction Manual (AIM), about $20; and the Technical Information Manual & Judging Guide published by the NCRS for $30. These are a must if you intend to repair/restore to original condition.
