I have to admit, I have been away from rebuilds for quite some time.
What are the current thoughts on attaching the pick-up tube ?
My OLD days, was just a couple of brazing spots, no disassembly of the pump.
What are People doing now ? Lock Tite, or something else ?
Last one I did, I put a small bead of Loctite around the tube, checked the clearance off the bottom of the pan, then hit a couple of quick spots with a MIG welder.
I have always MIG welded mine , why take the risk? ... Some say its not necessary, but I dispute that.. I have seen two come off , not mine, ..one just pressed in, one with Lock-Tite.. Easy to tell, when one comes off.. first the tapping noise of crank hitting it while it moves around, and second, oil pressure falls rapidly on braking

Mig welding will not adhere to cast very good, brazing is probobly the best option or I like to weld a tab to the pickup tube and bolt it into place with locktite on the bolt threads.
I've had a pickup tube fall off after being MIG welded on.
