Recently a new member made a post about trouble he was having with motor mounts. I remember thinking "how much trouble could you have with motor mounts?"
Well, today I found out...And the answer is "Thank you China".
The mounting holes where the motor mount is affixed to the engine fit just fine. BUT....when it came time to slide them over the mount on the frame, well forget it They are about 1/4 inch too narrow. Of course, being the old jerk that I am, I tossed the ones that fit because I made a vow to myself to stop hording old crap.
Now, I have a motor hanging from an engine crane, kinda resting on two mounts that won't fit onto the frame mounts.
Does anyone know of a specific manufacturer and art number for motor mounts that actually fit?
I prefer the safety style, because my motor is a big nasty beast.
The simplest things stop me in my tracks....
Many thanks to anyone who can make an recommendation.
I put solid motor mounts, from Moroso, on mine. I found that new mounts would not slip over the chassis mounts (the 2 5/8 dimension). I ended up spreading the mounts a little using 2 short pieces of 1/2 inch threaded rod and a coupler.
If you have mounts that look like the 2nd picture that Peterbuilt posted, you'll notice they have "spacers" tac welded to the mount. You should be able to remove the inner most spacer on each side and get the mount to fit over your frame mount.
Chevrolet came up with this mount to fit a variety of frame mounts and you can remove spacers from it to get them to fit different frame mounts.
