Default Correct 1974 Windshield Washer Pump

Looking for some feedback. While researching on the net I am seeing some aged original yellowish looking pumps that have the ports coming straight out and some with 90deg ports. I was also told by someone who works on these often that it is entirely possible the '74 cars came with both since Corvettes caught a lot of the passenger car excess. Thanks Chris at Melrose

Hi Chris,
Member Tooch1 (Jimmie) is one of the knowledgeable 73-74 folks here.
If he doesn't see your thread and respond, you might want to pm for some input on what was typical of production and when it was typical.
Regards,
Alan

Hi Chris,
To be honest with you I've never seen a 74' WW pump nozzle assembly that didn't have the three nozzles at 90 degrees. They are the same for the 73'. Yes, they were all originally white plastic and have yellowed with age. That's not to say that the straight type nozzles won't work. I just don't think they were ever originally used on the 73-74 cars.
I have however, seen the straight nozzle assembly used on later 71's ( around mid- March after they did away with the headlight washers) and then 72 cars. These were also white plastic.
I think most of the vendors include both style nozzles in their kits to include these years through 74. The washer assembly changed completely in 75 and these were no longer used.
Here is a photo of an original 74 washer assembly.
Hope this helps,
Jimmy

Hi,
I believe the current thinking for 70-72 cars is that the nozzles were white plastic and point toward the right side of the car whether there was 5 or 3 of them… not 'up' or 'down'.
Regards,
Alan
