Default Z06 Seats Install

Over the weekend I got a great deal on these Z06 seats (manual pass. / pwr driver side). From what I see from other threads, they install using the C3 rails with 1/2" spacers in between. Any tips with installing these would be helpful. Thanks.

Needed a lot of cleaning when I bought them.

But after a lot of scrubbing, Lexol cleaner and conditioner, they cleaned up real nice!

Your going to have to modify them to sit a little lower in the front. I don't recall getting it lower in the back on mine when I did this. You see those tabs in the front mounts where it makes a 90? I cut that off and welded a piece there to gain about an two inches lower. How tall are you? Reason I ask, that myself at 5-8, I have about one inch before my head hits the t-top. If you have a convertible, not an issue, but with a coupe, you might have some problems. My seats are both power, and some one mentioned the non power seats work better for this. But I got mine in with a bit of modding. Pictures attached.
Take out one of your old seats and set the new on in place. Sit on it and see what clearance issues you have. I put mine in a 68 and found out that big giant steering wheel was not going to work anymore as it was trapped on my thighs. Ended up changing out my column to a tilt one with a different wheel. Good luck.

Great info guys....

Just picked up a set of Z06 seats myself for 2nd project car.

At 5' 7" I wondered about fitment on the power seat (driver's side).
Wife is shorter, so no problem on passenger side. No plans on dating a super model either so should not be a problem later on....LOL

Txs

Great pics....

I'm 5'8" tall, so shouldn't be a problem. I was thinking of removing both rails including the drivers side power and mounting the seats to my manual c3 rails. From what I read, I'm under the impression that will get the seats mounted lower and no issues for lining up the factory seat bolts to the floor.

I would think keeping the power option would raise the seat too much, but I'm open to ideas if it works without being mounted too high.

Finally got around to installing the mod red Z06 seats. I ended up using my C3 seat tracks, and just drilled and tapped the C5 seat frames to mount them to.

I'll work on getting the rest of my interior color over to black with some red.

Those look really good. Did you lose any leg room?

They do sit a little higher, maybe an inch or so.

Still seems good as far as driving position goes, I haven't taken it for a ride yet, I'll get out this weekend and see. Nice to have the recline.

My wife may be able to drive now, she's 5' 4" and the original seat did not work for her.
