I changed cap rotor and coil on my stock 75 L48 coupe. The springs and innards have some surface rust, i used a toothbrush to gently clean up a little.....should i spray or clean more aggressively? Runs good as is did not want to mess anything up!
I've seen worse looking distributors that work just fine. If the advance mechanism moves freely I wouldn't worry about it. I certainly wouldn't use any lubricant in there.

Completely normal looking HEI. As long as the centrifugal advance is not seized up, and everything or working freely and smoothly, there is no issue.
Rusty HEI distributor innards?
