Last night a friend of mine calls me upand asks if I wanted to go cruisin'. Sure! Put a sweatshirt on the wife and head over to his house. Well he has an AC Cobra kit car (reallynice!) We take off and drive for about an hour. We stopped to get some coffee for the wifes to warm up. Parked them side by side in front of a Wawa. These 2 guys come over and look at the cars, and the one guy says who has the Vette? I do. Well they went on with question after question for about 15 min. Never once a word about the Cobra. After we got back to my friends house he just couldn't get over the attention my car got and lack of it to his. :mad All I said was you can't beat a red Vette. :D His car is blue with the white stripes. His can't be all bad it has a 350 chevy in it. Over all a great night, just wish I took some pictures.
If I was there, I would've asked about the Cobra. :D You don't see many Cobras on the road. But after the owner told me it was a kit car, I would've talked to the owner of the Vette.
You won't see ANY original AC Cobras on the street.
They are valued at somewhere around $400-500k !!!
If you see a Cobra, it is definitely a kit. Don't get me wrong, I really like
them. Actually, someone down the road from me moved in recently with one.
It sounds really mean (sidepipes), and they always look great.
Personally, I prefer the kit cars if they're done right. An authentic Cobra is a great thing, but it's so valuable, who wants to drive it around? A kit car looks and runs every bit as well....and sometimes better and it has the fiberglass body that doesn't dent if you touch it with your finger tip. As an investment....the real deal is the way to go....but I'd still take the kit car because if I'm going to own it.....I'm going to drive and enjoy it.
Thats an odd occurance. As mentioned above, you just dont see many out and about even the kit cars. My friend and neighbor has had his about 2 years now and every time he takes it out he gets flocked with attention. He has even offered to build these cars for a small fee, he is the mustang man and I am the vette man in our crowd. Now that we only live 200 ft away, we will probably have some pics taken soon.

- I agree 100% .....although as far as attention - I'd talk to both owners !!! ......and btw - they're not 'kit' cars they're correctly referred to as "component" cars or replicas since they're built on a custom frame - ground up ! ;)
