I want to put headers on my Vette, but I don't know what kind to buy. I have heard people on the forum mention Headman Elite Headers and Dynomax Cerama coat headers. Is anyone out there using either of these headers? If so how do you like them, and did they go in easy? I'm looking for a header that fits the car and doesn't need alot of banging to fit in. The Vette is an 81 with A/C (if that matters). I also want the finish to hold up, and not chip off or rust and look bad. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. If anyone has a different bradn of headers I'm open to sugestions, those are just two I've heard about. I had a set of Hookers on a Chevelle I had a long time ago but after about a year the finish was all rusted and it looked horible.
Dynomax ceramic coated headers. Fit and look nice with no :smash: . Good deal at about $220. The coating helps keep underhood heat down as well as look pretty nice.
The Dynomax are good quality for the $. Got em on my small block and they fit good and dont hang down underneath. Finish has dulled a little from the heat but thats normal. They still look decent after a year. I would use them again and recomend them to others.
I run the Hedman Elite headers. They look great and have been on for a month without any fade, interior and under hood temps were greatly reduced by the thermal coating, and my mechanic said they were a breeze to install with the only thing he had to remove being the clutch linkage, which was he said was very easy. He was also impressed with how well they fit. As far as a power increase I'm not sure, since I did they whole exhaust at once. But the whole exhaust definately made a difference. I bought these headers from Jegs. They're for the '63-'82 vette, the part number is 500-68308, and they go for $255.99. Well worth the money in my opinion, seeing how the coated Hooker's start at $470
For improved torque, the train of thought is 2 stage headers. I think Hedman makes some, they may be called "Tork" something. Not sure if they have a "drop-in" application for C3's or not. :)
