On my 71 sb coupe the alarm is not working, i remember it use to work years ago. I put the key in and turned the lock and when i opened the door nothing, all of the switches are in the door jambs and under the hood and are wired.
Where should i start to look.
When mine became a 'used to work', I quickly figured out it was the trunk lock; I had to turn the key just so, to get it to work.....I have not worked up the courage to replace that key lock yet...
My son and I both have 74's and have had this problem. I think the basics of the alarm system on ours are the same as yours. In both of our cases it was the internal contacts of the key switch getting oxidized with time preventing flow of electricity to the horn itself. I know this because in both cases I removed the switch and soaked it in a home brewed brass cleaner and the key switch started working again. I reinstalled the cleaned switch and the system was restored to operation (in both cases).
If you can pull your switch out with the wires installed, put a jumper wire across the switch terminals with a door or hood open and see if the horn blows.
