Default exhaust fitment question???

A Corvette friend of mine has an unused complete 2.5" SS exhaust system for his 69 427/435 4 spd. He is going with sidepipes and has offered the system to me for my 74 454 auto. Now I am assuming that the contour of the pipes is slightly different between the 4 spd and the auto. Am I correct in that assumption? But I cant imagine a major difference with the BB pipes for 68-74.
So would it be worth it to purchase this system and fab what needs to be done to make it fit, or is it better for him to sell it on his own and I'll just get a direct fit system?
I may be able to purchase his system for a very good price....
Opinions......thanks.....Tom

I would look up kits at Corvette Central or Ecklers for your car with either trans and see if there is a different kit part number.

I have done that and yes there are different parts #'s for each trans. The only thing I can think of is the different way the front pipes run from the exhaust manifolds to around the trans and of course the muffler outlets depending on whatever year. Again just wondering if it is at all worth it to make adjustments or just get the "correct" set....
Thanks for the reply....appreciated...

Hi Tom,
I believe:
The automatic transmission is wider than the 4 speed transmission, especially on the right side.
Because of this the right side automatic head pipe is bent differently and it goes through the hole in the transmission cross member at an angle which requires a slightly different rear pipe (to the muffler) too.
Regards,
Alan

This is why automatic equipped cars have that additional little fiberglass 'hump' on the side of the transmission tunnel in the passenger's footwell.

Hello SS Roadster,
I'm down the street from you in Horsham.
Is it a stock system or does he have a flow master etc... style mufflers with it?
If reasonable and open to me I may be interested depending on price.
Thank you and did not mean to butt into your business if you are still considering the system.
