I've mentioned this on the forum before, but it might be worth mentioning again - I didn't buy a kit with special shifter and modified box for my car, which saved me a bundle. Part of the savings for me was in not shipping the gearbox from the US and paying the customs fees, but it may save you guys some money too. I bought the standard box locally here in Aus and cut and welded a dogleg offset into the standard shifter to locate it in the standard location in the console. This did mean i had to cut the hole in the tunnel a little larger (just extend it toward the passenger side) and fit an aftermarket (larger) shifter boot/seal to cover the hole, but no big deal. I then just bought the conversion specific parts I wanted - like the standard looking lever, and the console shift pattern plate. I defy anyone to tell the difference, and it saved me a huge amount of money (again, a lot of that was import and freight costs for me though).
