I've got some wiring issues in my 68. They main thing is the ignition switch wires are plugged into the steering column wires.... I. I can't find the original locations for either of those two things either. Also I need help with ground strap locations. Right now I have one on the rad support, one on the front valence (next to horns), one from the battery to the frame, and the engine to frame ground all connected. Where are the rear light grounds? Also my center counsel has no power. Is there a ground for that? When I hit the blinkers the passenger side blinker lights up no matter which way I flick the switch and it doesn't blink. No dome lights either. I need help I'm not very good at wiring. The engine harness and forward lamp harness are brand new everything else hasn't been touched after 1986.
I found some weird stuff going on with the car tonight. When the passenger side door is open the dome lights turn on and when I turn the steering wheel they get brighter? When I turn the wheel some stuff turns on and other stuff turns on on the dash. The cigar light turns on but the rest of the center doesn't work
You have some grounding problems. The dash harness ground in 69 was on the left A pillar above the hood release, plus more on the back of the tach/speedo, one for the center console and one for the center gauges. If you turn the steering wheel and things get brighter, that tells me something is finding a ground thru the column.
Willcox has a pretty good diagram on his site too.
