Head lights flickering....cause?

Head lights flickering....cause?
Don't drive much at night but last night on my way home I noticed my lights flickering , dash lights as well. Any ideas where to start lookin'

Mine just started doing the same thing last night. Also the volt meter swings wildly. Then it will stop and everything is fine. 5 minutes later starts again?? I just put a new alt in. Wonder if that has anything to do with it? :confused:
