Turn Signal Pivot

Turn Signal Pivot
Hi,
I'm looked through Jim's steering papers, but I am unable to find instructions on how to remove the Turn Signal Pivot. I have the 1978 Late version which is a pressed in pin. I have the column tore down (in the car) as far as the signal switch, which I am also replacing and have removed. I can see the broken Pivot, and have pulled out the broken plastic part, but the metal part that is still there and has the pressed in pin is still there. Is there a trick to getting it out?

If the plastic part is broken... your in trouble. Do you have a new one to replace it with? Because they are getting impossible to find these days. I have a plastic part here somewhere but it's from the 1979-1982 that had a broken pivot housing so it won't work for your switch.
The pivot pin pressed in and you will have to remove the press pin to remove the assembly.

Yes, I have a new one coming. Cost me $350.00 but I paid it because I want my original column. Took me a while to find one. Seems like the early ones (screw) are easier to find.
What is the trick to removing the pressed in pin? It's in too deep to grab it with needle nose.

Remove the three screws show in the picture below... then when you have the upper collar out, you can drive the pin out. You'll need to remove the outer collar as well...
