Which joint upper or lower? Aluminum or polished stainless? Did you unbolt and lower the rack? If steel you can use a brass drift. Sometimes it takes a few days for penetrating fluids to work, apply daily and work it. T

Upper joint and aluminum. I did not unbolt the lower rack. This weekend I am trying ATF mixed with acetone and see if that will free it up any. When it was new it would slip on semi easy.
How does unbolting the rack help? Does it give it a easier angle?

If the rack isn't separated from lower u-joint, where does the u-joint shaft assembly have a place to travel to, or are you expecting the upper u-joint to slide on to the spline of the lower shaft. Give it some room to move, it's only 2 bolts[saddle on the drivers side]. T
