I tried to research this for you but came to a dead end on my AIM for 1968. I have part numbers but no sizes. The original part numbers don't pop up on supplier sites. If no one answers for you, personal message me and I'll measure for you on my car.

The site couldn't find the other hose part #. And at any rate, the AIM's drawing wasn't conclusive enough for me to draw a conclusion as to where they connected to the engine.
Very kind of you to offer a measurement off your car my friend (wish I had a '68! ).
Intake manifold to bottom core tube (small 5/8")
Water pump to upper core tube (large 3/4")
There ya go.
Thank you sir!
The '73 GM Shop Manual shows the coolant flow for the 6-cylinder engine, but not the V-8s. So I'm left to guess the big hose from the Water Pump is pressure into the Heater Core and the smaller hose from the Heater Core is pressure into the Intake Manifold.

Have I got that right?
Steve
Nope. Small is supply, Large is return.
