not sure what spec he set the clutches and shims to
the trans will stay under 200 when cruising around town and on the freeway, but once it hits a canyon or track, it shoots up to around 250, on a good day, and can go above that even. obviously WAAYYY too hot

I'm going to stop by Rons Shop today.

we have considered at 4l80 but not sure about fitment, as far as height goes. we don't have a whole lot of room between the ground and the pan as it is

I had the 700R4 tranny inspected by the local shop. They said that the 27 spline version in my 'vette is weak and should be replaced with a rebuilt 30 spline they have in stock for long term reliability. Here is what's in it, comments welcome.

the 27 was the first design..and not a good one.. it will not hold except in the lowest power levels.. no one builds 27s for performance applications..

Danny, you have two sides to address. What creates the heat and how to get rid of it

What makes the heat is the TC. Inefficient high stalls create lots of heat. I used a 3800 stall multi lockup clutch 9.5 inch behind my 427 sbc. The biggest b&m cooler, 1/2 ss braided lines, and no dust cover to let air around the tc

700 trannies have a 3/8th reducer on the case I installed 1/2 inch the b&m. Also had 1/2 inch in and out

I never had a heat problem. 160 or less cruise and under 200 road racing with slicks that led to the 5 speed

let me check on the TC stall I have in there
and I've thought about running larger lines to my cooler. I'll pull out the reducers and go up a size in my lines

so you think the heat is coming from the TC? I do have a larger stall than stock in there. its billet, just forgot the exact number
