After getting my car running for the first time since owning it, I've now focused on getting it street legal (at least close enough not to get pulled over). I've replaced the tail lights with LED trailer lights. My tail lights come on with the headlights. The brake lights work. The right turn signal works now that I've replaced the turn and hazard flashers with electronic versions.
My problem is with the left turn signal. When actuate it all four rear lights flash. The left seems brighter, but they all flash.
My front bumper is still off, so I'm missing the front turn signals, but I wouldn't think that would cause my problem. I've also rebuilt the steering column, so a screw up in the hazard or turn signal switch is possible.
My best guess is the problem is my front marker light, as they are wired as both park and turn signals. Am I getting voltage backfeeding? I haven't found another case of anyone experiencing the same problem, and I know that I'm not the only one running LED tail lights.
I found a separate diagram for an '82. Much easier to follow that the single page for the '76. Hopefully the turn signal circuits are similar between the years.
It looks like the front/side marker lights ground through the front turn signals. So if they aren't there or burn out, then it would ground through the circuit for the headlight (which also connects the taillights).
