You mention you're using an Edelbrock manifold, but what carburetor are you using?
Are you wanting to stay with the original cold air package?
Some of the drop-base, open element, air cleaners from the late 60's (Corvettes) will give you additional room. You'll just need to get a base that matches the carburetor you are using.
