Default 71Hood Support Question

The hood support bracket extends past or above the riveted threaded grommets in hood. It's basically screwed into the same side rib of the hood, but just into the glass. It's screwed into what looks like grommets should be there....but not. Is is it possible grommets were there but fell off into hood rib? In other words I'm not sure if it's the correct hood support. See pic. Maybe another member can post a pic. Thanks.

Hi DV,
Here's a 71 hood and 71 prop.
Regards,
Alan

Hi Alan.
As I see in your pic I don't see gromets below like my hood has. When I get home I will check the numbers on my support.

It looks to me like you have a 72 and later big block hood. The hood support was redesigned and relocated on the hood. If you bolted a 72 support to your car, it would fit in the lower holes like Alan's. Looks like yours has well nuts behind the support bolts.
Edit: Don't know why I said big block--but the thought remains the same. 72 hood with 71-type support.

62....not a BB hood. Maybe 72 hood. Numbers on my support are same as Alan's. #16077. I put the well nuts in to secure support a bit more. But they eventually pull out. So am correct to assume a 72 support is shorter than 71 support?

Here is a 72 hood support. It doesn't telescope but look as if it folds. Defiantly shorter.
