I have a 73 Vette and want to swap out the seats for later model seats that come in the 78 thru 82. Can they be swapped out using the existing mount bolt holes?
The front mount holes are the same, but the rear mounting holes may be in a different position. Chevrolet changed them every few years from 68-77. I just installed 79 seats in a 75 and had to customize the rear mounting a bit.
I was thinking the seats mounted the same to the sliders, use the original slides.
I've seen people say that. I considered that, but didn't try it because the adjustment levers looked different enough that I didn't think the adjustment lever would fit through the slot in the later style seats. I could be wrong, since I didn't actually try it.
I switched mine using the 73 slides. But used longer bolts in the front and tube spacers (about inch or 1 1/2) to tilt the seat back a bit.
Other than that bolt in.
Hope it helps.

Used my '75 tracks to put later model seats in my car. Made spacers for the front that matched the height of the stock '81 tracks. For the adjustment lever, just remove the bottom part of the slot. Totally invisible and works great.
Here is a pic with my new seat covers. I have since repainted the parking brake console for a better match.
