Here's a new video I found from my last track excursion. There was a guy who came up and asked to put a Go-Pro inside....but I never got his name and didn't know what happened to the video.
So you get a little inside "gear banging" fun ride!! This is a run through in 4th gear....about 7750 RPM at the line!
Jim, a lot of words come to mind- many of which I can't say here. Wicked, violent, and inspirational are some that I can use. You're very quick with the shifter! I'm surprised by how quiet the turbos make it, considering the power level. Many thanks for sharing with us. What a ride! Oh, but next time latch your hood.

The hood unlatched and up in the air in the rear was done on purpose to allow air to come in like a cowl induction hood old trick the racers used like on the 61-64 chevys at the drag strips racers like Grumpy jenkin's and Hayden Proffitt's 63 chevy's always had this done on their drag race Impala's .
I started installing hood latch extensions at the track when I ran a carb. I installed a 1" spacer and needed some room plus it got some fresh air moving.
C-2's have a bad reputation for handling at high speeds...but mine always seemed to drive fine. I figured the open hood must be relieving some pressure and helping keep the nose down. So since it always worked...I've kept doing it though with the turbo setup I really don't need to for hood clearance.
I've promised everyone that the next time I'm at the track I'll leave the extensions off and see how it drives.

I knew you ran with your hood that way on purpose- just giving you a bad time. Now you have me curious about what will happen when you keep it closed at high speed. Be safe!

You need to see the picture of him at speed with the soft top up. That's a great picture.

Thanks Jim, it sure brought back some fun memories I had racing my 65 fuelie out on Long Island NY back in the day. What a last................
I wonder what hie ET was.

It would hook initially and then spin down track. Slicks were 7 years old. Have new ones now...heading back ASAP to get an 8 sec timeslip!
I was trying different things to get it to make a decent ET. That was a low RPM launch and it had to pull back hard...but it did OK. I'll be able to come out harder next time. It's got MPH to run deep 8's as it is...just need to first part to improve. Or I can turn up the power and run it harder out the back door if I have to!

Jim back in the day(69) I was running 7:93 in the 1/8 and 12.2's in the 1/4 and I thought those were good times. Yours are of the charts! I was running 5:38's and 18" slicks. I was not allowed to radius the wheel wells and back then you had to adlib. So I ran dodge dart air shocks in the rear to clear the tires. It was a great time for me. Love the video.................................
