After 18 years of running halogen headlights on my 71, they now flicker on/off when on high beam. I have replaced both the dimmer and headlight switches. From the Forum I found that this likely can be remedied by installing headlight relays. However I have kept the car restored original and I don't want to add non-standard wiring. My question is if I purchase the original type T3 headlights should my problem be resolved? I rarely drive at night so could live with the lower lighting.

I would think so or you could still have an issue with the circuit breaker in the headlight switch.
I believe you can use a headlgith switch for a 1982 and it will stop because they came with halogen bulbs.
Disconnect ONE of your high beams as it is now and see if it flickers.
If I am not mistaken when I checked the amp draw on regular headlights versus halogen headlights...they were not that far apart...but I could be mistaken.
I believe you can contact the headlight bulb manufacturer ( Sylvania, Wagner, etc) and talk with them department and they will tell you what the bulbs draw for current.
