I just purchased this filter for my gas tank.
Does anyone know if this filter just slides on to my fuel intake line in the gas tank or does it need to be soldered/brazed or something.
When I purchased the car, there was no filter.
Yes, I will be removing the gas tank sometime soon (Its moved to top ten on my to do list) but just wanted the filter on so I could deal with tank a bit later.
Thanks Pete

it slides onto the tube that is part of the sender which appears to be visible in your picture. If your arm is slender enough you can do it through the gas filler neck
Hey Mel,
I was hoping is just slides on. I am a bit surprised though as what will stop if from just sliding back off after sometime with fuel sloshing around?
I can't get my hand in through the filler but I have just discovered a job for my 14 year old daughter!
Much appreciated!
Pete
I just changed one on the sending unit for my 79 Chevy pickup. It does take a little effort to get it slid into place. Not likely that it'll come off if it's slid on far enough.
your car had a filter , that's what's left of it still on the tube.
its a push on fit and notice how its a cone shape end , it goes on easy but if you try and get it off that cone digs into the tube . If you don't believe me try and get that old piece off , I ended up just pushing the new one on as well.

I guess I will attempt to do the same, thanks Bazza.
It seems that every problem I encounter, somehow someone on here has dealt with the same thing.
I will let you know how I make out with the new filter.

Hi,
The metal part of the filter is shaped in such a way that it slips on the fuel sender's tube pretty easily.
But when you try to slide it back off that metal shape grabs the tube so you really need to wiggle the filter to get it to come off the tube.
Regards,
Alan
Thats good news, I will avoid dropping the tank just yet sully.
Thank you
You don't need to drop the tank. If you suck the fuel out, you can remove the sending unit, remove the remnants of the old filter and slide the new filter on. You will need the special 3/8" ratchet tool to unlock/lock the sending unit and a new gasket.
