Hi jwa,
I don't have a dimension for the length of the column.
Might this photo help?
You can see how much the column extends into the rag joint and the position of the rag joint on the steering box.
Regards,
Alan

For a 69 anyway, 4.75 inches should be sticking out from the bearing collar. Not sure if it the same through all C3 years.

1969 thru 1976 Corvette T&T columns should have 4.7 inches of steering shaft sticking out from the lower bearing face.

Hi jw,
I may be mistaken but I believe the dimensions 69 and JS gave are from this point.

Alan

We are still confused, the measurement and measuring points is when the steering column is apart the lower shaft is out of the housing.

Hi jw,
Sorry, I thought you were asking about the dimension of the exposed shaft when it's not in a collapsed condition.
Perhaps Jim can answer your question.
Regards,
Alan
