Default No special tools required...

Make sure you inspect the pump shaft to ensure it is not worn.

When you get your new pulley, line up the key and keyway, push it on, then snug her down with the nut.

Are these a bit more loose since they rely on the key? Can I put it on by hand and then snug the end nut up? I'm trying to do this with the pump still on the car...and if so, there isn't room for that tool down in there!

No, you should be able to push it onto the shaft by hand but it should fit snugly once it's on the shaft all the way.

Hey guys - just got back to it tonight. The new pulley went on very easily. I did find the threads on the pump shaft were a little messed up, but not bad enough to keep the nut from going on. So now the pulley is on and the nut is tight...no wobble!

Now I need to chase down the correct belts....I'm getting closer!

Thanks again to all of you!

I need to remove/reinstall the power steering pulley on my '71 350/270 to do a pump rebuild.

When reinstalling, can I assume the pulley just goes all the way onto the shaft until it bottoms out?

Is there a torque spec for tightening the pulley nut?

With the pump on the bench, how to I tighten the nut if the pulley spins freely?

Thanks
