Default 1976 Interior lights

I have read many posts and the discussions for '77+ Corvettes about the interior lights staying on while driving the car, but mine is a 1976E and I don't think it has a delay timer under the tach/speedo, unless it's the world's longest timer ever (2+ hours). I have new, aftermarket, HD plungers on both doors, but one could have gone bad. I also just read about the dome light (mine is in the rear storage cabin at the back) and will check those contact points for the bulb. I have the rear view mirror courtesy map light, but it works independent of the lighting system, and is not part of the problem. Is there any hidden, Chevrolet genius I might be missing to resolve this issue, so I don't have to take this to my Corvette guy and help finance another one of his kids through college?

Did you replace the switches at the front of the door jamb or at the rear. The rear is for the alarm the front for the lights

Have you turned the light switch ****? I realize this may be the bone head question of the day, but someone has to ask it and I have no shame.

Sometimes the door jamb switches can "ground" themselves and keep the lights on. It sounds like you may have recently replaced them?

Open one door at a time and just fiddle with the switch. Try twisting the plunger a bit as you push it in and out. You'll notice immediately if the lights go out.

My car still has the original switches in it and every now and then the courtesy lights will stay on. Through trial and error I've learned it's the drivers side door switch which needs twisted a bit.

Yes, I have new, aftermarket, heavy duty plungers on both doors; I replaced the alarm door plungers, as well as, the alarm hood plunger, which aren't directly connected to the interior lights, as I'm sure you know. One of these door plungers may have grounded out, recently...

I went to check the headlight/parking light/interior light switch first, thinking I had inadvertently switched them on in the daytime and didn't notice until under darker conditions; I have done this before...

I have exercised the plungers, but did not rotate them during this procedure. Thanks, I will give it a try before going through the process of removing them for further inspection/volt meter test.
