I learned today that later model Vette Columns take a mounting Capsule that is grooved completely straight....

.... as opposed to earlier Capsules that are grooved to an angle.
Just putting it out there so you know if it comes time to buy.
Hi Steve,
Interesting!
Do the parts vendors differentiate between the 2?
Did some other part have to change in order that the groove angle needed to change.
Regards,
Alan

Good Morning Alan.
To answer your question, I don't know. I've not seen them available in any catalog yet, or even a GM Part Number listing of them.
This seems to be a case of the good people of this forum as being my only hope of procuring them, and I'm proud to say chucks is sending me the correct ones, and I will add, without naming a price.
Hi Steve,
That sounds pretty GOOD to me.
Have you determined the reason the one corner of the opening has much less of a radius than the other 3?
Regards,
Alan

Alan,
My only guess would be that the engineers considered the collapsible Column's motion in a forward collision accident, and the Capsule's integrity was preserved better with the rounded inner corner's shape.
