Default MSD 6AL Location

I've got the MSD Billet Distributor and MSD 6AL controller.

The Dist is fairly obvious :D , but where is the best place for the 6AL? Its pretty big, and I can't decide where to put it

thanks,
David

I don't know what year your car is, but there are several of us that located the box inside the windshield wiper channel, just above the A/C box. It fits well on my 75. I did put tape over the RPM limiter module, as it is positioned up and I feared water could get in it. I have driven my car in heavy rain conditions multiple times with no ill affects. If your car is older and has the wiper cover, I don't believe it will fit in this location.

After having a box fry on me behind the dash ED T told me he mounted his on the front of radiator on lower valance for many years through all kinds of weather and never had a problem.
Plenty of airflow. The most important factor for the MSD box.

I put mine on the firewall driver's side, not the coldest place but no problem so far.

I located mine behind the expansion tank on the passengers side inner fender like Theandies did. I figured it might get a little air from the side grills.

Don't have a picture, but on my manual brake '74 there's nice room on the driver's side firewall between the master cylinder and fender. I figure it's a little cooler there, too, since the fender vent is nearby. It's also kind of stealthy, you have to be paying attention to notice it....although Ken73 spotted mine right away...

I mounted mine on the drivers side fender next to and just forward of the master cylinder. Gotta make sure the hood support doesn't hit if this is the location of your choice.

Insulate it from heat and electrical noise. There is a better then average chance it will fail before you have it a year if you don’t.
