Default 1977 Speedometer ground

Hello, I'm just about to re-install my drivers dash in my 1977 and I see a black wire with a connection at the end that I must have missed. I do have everything else labeled that I removed except for this one. It may not have been connected to anything at all when I removed the dash but I just can't remember now. I do have the ground wire for the tach labeled , Im just wondering if this is perhaps for the speedometer? I don't see where a ground would connect to the back of the speedometer though?
Any help would be appreciated.
Thank you!

Could be the speedo ground. Check to see if the speedo has a spade lug on the back of it.

I do not see one. It was missing the small bracket that runs from the speedo to the tach though. Is it possible the ground to the tach also serves as the ground for the speedo?

Here's a pic I took of the back of my 77 dash when I had it out.

Looks like the only place that can go is either at 18 or underneath that red 16. (They are upside down 81 or 91)

Sorry I dont remember what they went to but black is usually a ground.

ground for the bulbs, goes where 18 is marked(tach side) ,spedo side has same flat spade
put new bulbs in right away, check the headlight switch(replace it,not that expensive from wilcox) also while you are there, only want to take that apart once

Yes I think you are right, the spade is on the tach but is missing on the back of the speedometer so that ground wire has just been hanging out there. I did put a new headlight switch in and new LED's while I have it out so hopefully we'll be good to go.
Thanks again for all your help!
