Default Big block wp question

On a long water pump with the 2 coolant ports on the top of the water pump, is there a inlet and outlet on these 2 ports or doesn't it matter.

The one toward the center is for the bypass hose to the intake. The heater hose connection should be just above the radiator hose connection on the right side.

Looking at that picture, and not sure what year your BBC Corvette is, that pump is way different than the one on my 69 BBC. I don't have that boss on the left side. It would not fit my car with power steering.

Also, it shows B as 5/8". Is that right for your car? My '71 454 requires 3/4" shaft.

Yeah, mind does not look like that. I have the bypass only, from intake to top of WP.
But I have the short water pump-model ie. (Corvette), like most for a BB.

Well, I'm lost now. My big block couldn't fit a long water pump. If I had a fan connected to it, it would hit the radiator.

Hmmm....

Here's a shot of mine so you can see the hose connections.

Has electric fans and non corvette specific brackets and pulleys.

ALL Corvettes use the short pump.

GOOD CATCH
forgot to say that this engine is far from stock.
So the one on the drivers side is for a bypass if used and the one on the pass side is for the heater if used.

please look at My Profile for pics
