Driving home from a great cruise we have here in the north east last night, 15 min from home came to a stop light, poof all the dash lights, tail lights, brake lights basically every light except the head lights went out.
Made it home with a bit of pucker factor, after a friendly officer took pity and sent me the last 5 miles without a ticket or worse a tow.
I am thinking its a ground somewhere because so much is affected, any hints tips or tricks to help identify would be great.
Thanks, and happy 4th of July, remember we are part of the True American Sports Car Fraternity.
Think about the common things that all of those lights have- Stop, Turn and Tail are on a common fuse, the dash (inst) lights are on a common fuse too. The tail and dash are controlled by the headlight switch, the stop and turn, thru the t/s switch. Wire harness to the rear runs down the left side of the car, thru a bulkhead grommet to the rear lights. The rear light ground is at the left rear of the frame. Dash lights ground on the left A pillar above the hood release.
With all of the lights failing at one time, I'd have to sort out the common stuff first.
Many possibilities... But, as you were coming to a stop, I would start with the brake pedal and brake light switch. Could be a frayed wire shorting to ground when the pedal is actuated (for example)....
I was looking into the fuses, as I was checking each one, I began to hear the flasher activate, the hazard switch was still engaged. I checked all the lights and all were back and functioning as expected. I am thinking there may be a lose or bad ground, because there were multiple issues across more than one fuse.

The same thing happened again except leaving a local show this time they were out as soon as I went to leave, and started the car.
I have changed out the fuses, and the flasher. I did notice that the 20A Cig lighter \ Ctsy fuse was not installed, so I installed. With the battery re connected the interior lights came on seems like the door switch was malfunction because they did not turn off when the door was closed. what was weird is when the hazards were activated the interior lights stopped working? I pulled the Cig lighter \ Ctsy fuse and went back to trouble shooting because all was working before, and the interior lights can be dealt with later. so checked the connections to the brake switch looks good, looked at the harmonica connector and that looked good to. where i am at now is no brake lights, no Hazards and no tail or parking lights. turn signals are working. not sure where to turn next, very frustrating, there were no indications of any issues until 3 or so week ago. any further trouble shooting tips would be great. I have a multi meter and a 12 volt test light so I should be able to check some things out. I was thinking a grounding issue, can one component like a brake switch effect other circuits? Sorry for the long post but just put in 4 hours and have more questions than answers.
A few more hours and some more info. Jumped the brake switch no help, with one lead off the battery for ground, the fuses for tail, stop and inst have no power. Is there a common ground? Still trying to find the answers.
