Richard, help me out. I'm not seeing a torsion (spring) type setup there. It just looks like the guy put a stock car type sway bar up there (possibly because the lower radiator area conflicted with the space where the stock sway bar was positioned).
That radiator is right where the front of the hood goes when you open it. You'd have to either go to a complex hinge (that lifts the bonnet up as it opens) or a rear hinged hood if you wanted to retain hinges with that radiator location. As you note, room might also be limited for headlight actuators or motors.
Or you can put hood pins on all four corners and skip the hinges

I wish I had taken some better pics- as I was interested in the radiator mount.
The smaller front bar is (what looks)being used as a sway bar-
see the arrow.
And then look at the circle- it's linked to the top torsion(?) bar.
