The A/C just started to run intermittently. The compressor is NOS stock, 2 years old. Running R-12. When on it blows very cold and cycles normally. Other times it does nothing. No magnetic click, nothing. When driving (when it is on) it will cut out and not go back on. Any ideas??
Either one of your safety switches (over pressure & under pressure) is defective, you have a leak and the refrigerant is low, or you have an operational problem with the compressor. My suggestion would be that you take it to a professional A/C mechanic and have the system checked and repaired as necessary.
You might be able to add refrigerant to your system, if it is low; but can you also check the system for leakage areas (which is why the refrigerant is low)?
P.S. You could also have an intermittent drive clutch on the compressor.

I found a broken green wire to the pressure sw by the recovery tank, it pulled out of the black rubber double connector , found it by luck poking around checking connections. I tried to repair the black connector, but just wasn't going to happen. put new fast-on connectors on the brown and green wires, A/C clutch now works
