another problem, front drivers turn signal will not flash. new bulb (even tried the passenger side bulb), new flasher unit. Light goes on with head lights / running lights, but will not flash. All other lights work correctly. I can not see any corrosion in the socket. Any ideas?
the bulb socket has two contacts one for parking and one for turning. Use a test light or voltmeter and check for power at both contacts, one will be hot with lights on and the other should only be hot when the turn signal is on.
No idea what year your car is, but on my '78 the front lower turn signal bulb sockets are on a pigtail, which is removable from the car. To eliminate the socket as the problem, can you swap one side socket for the other? Unplug DS and install it on the PS..
Remember to check continuity from the housing (ground) to chassis ground. If the ground wire/connection is in poor condition or broken, you will get no power to go THRU the bulb.
I had the same problem with the drivers side turn signal. Tried switching bulbs, putting in new bulbs, checking grounds, etc. No luck until I replaced the entire pigtail on the drivers side. Problem was solved although now I have a spare pigtail since I could only buy them in a pair. LOL.
