Mike's book is no longer in print. Has he looked into making it available through one of the print on demand services? Seems like people are regularly referring to it. I just bought one off ebay and found some interesting stuff in there.
This car has NEVER had A/C in it, but I am bringing it to Texas. Vintage Air says they do not have a system for the '78. Any suggestions??
I put a Vintage Air system into my 77 and did a write up on the complete process. Do a search to find it.
A gentleman named "autowiz", who works in a shop near West Palm Beach FL and posted in another forum during 2016 has done a number of VA installs into 78-82 C3's, to the extent that he made a template for use in a 3D printer for an adaptor to use the VA 3 **** control head in place of the stock control head. Other posts on the other forum detail the entire process (with many pictures!) of installing the VA unit into 78-82 C3's.
PM me for the name of the other forum, and with any other questions you may have. Be happy to help.
I want to thank everyone, I've decided to just go ahead and get the vintage air system from Ecklers's. Looks like it has everything and should work great.
Do you have an update? I have a '70 that came to me with the AC not functional and also deciding which route to go.
Still cool out but plan to have the system evaluated soon. I'm not expecting the original equip to be in great cond.
We're all looking for the best cooling system we can find, whether we realize it or not. This summer, we've seen both big and small companies launch new thermal systems for their vehicles.
