True '78 Pace Cars had a "9" in the VIN. Went from 1Z87L8S900001 through 1Z87L8S906502. Fifth digit could be L(for L-48) or 4(for L-82). You need to check your last "four" digits to see where your car falls in the run of 6502 1978 Pace Cars.
