Does anyone know how many of the long sheet metal screws should be used to help hold on the door panel? I'm talking about the chrome ones that are used down in the carpet area. I only have one on the passenger side and two on the driver's side. How many should there be? I've seen a door panel "screw" kit in the Mid-America's catalog that shows 4 long screws. Is this correct? Thanks for the help!
Thanks JD. Looking back at the Mid-America kit, it seems that the kit is actually for two panels. It has 4 long screws and 2 short ones which would match up to what you said in your post and would match my drivers door. It looks like I'm missing a screw on the passenger side. Hardware store, here I come. :D
I have a 78PC, which I have spent numerous hours with adjusting the windows......panels; on panels off........You should have (2) long screws with bezels. (1) under the armrest (1) above the "stash" pocket. (1) short screw with bezel at the window top rear. I have found that you should also have (5) plastic Xmas treee style clips around the perimete of the door in the little metal pieces. to secure nicley, these clips should be replaced every time you remove the door panels. the clips can be bought at any of the major auto chains. Addtiionally, the door is held on byt the armrest bolts. If you do all of this is will be much more secure and ratlle free. The other thing I did last time is replace the clear plastic with some audio sound deadening material. It is self adhesive, waterproof, and black. If you cut this back under the panel it is unoticeable so the only way it would cost points in judging would be if the panels were removed. :chevy
