Default A/C fittings....?

1972 with what looks like original hoses....Both ports are 3/8"....Most retrofit r134a kits have a 7/16" low side conversion fitting....? Is there a kit that has both low and high for the 3/8".....?

I just looked at that exact item....It has both 3/8 & 7/16 high side but only 7/16 low.....I need both high and low for 3/8".

you are looking at the high pressure port on the compressor connector block and the low pressure port on the POA valve for the sizes?

All three ports can be seen in the pic below....The same cap fits all three....I guess I could have the size wrong and maybe they are all three 7/16"....They sure look and measure like 3/8".

I've never seen this before,

The only thing i can see is someone made a mistake when assembling the hoses,

Those fittings should be one 3/16" flare on high side and one 1/4" flare on the low side'

Maybe someone else has seen this and knows how to deal with it,

I looked on the DuraCool and Yellow Jacket sites but neither offer anything that will work,

Maybe try and find a 3/16" to 1/4" flare adapter and then use the low side 134 adapter

Or give Mastercool a call and see if they have a solution

I found another fitting on the hose close the the exhaust manifold....I'm not sure there would even be enough room for a fitting on this one....It would have to be a 90 deg. elbow. This fitting is the same size as all the others.

The local parts stores usually have an assortment pack that covers whatever you need. They are on ebay also. Easy way to tell the size is a 7/16 fine thread nut will thread on the 7/16 fitting and 3/8 fine on the smaller one. I have some but it would cost more to ship them than to get them locally. The 7/16 low side adapter also comes in a 90*, I have seen them at Napa and advance.

I think all the fittings are 7/16" and the kit above should work just fine....I can over complicate the simplest things sometime.

The fittings on my 72 are in fact 7/16"....But now I have another issue... I had to take two of the old schrader valves out and it seems like part of it stayed in the fittings. See pics of the old valves below. The new ones will not screw in because of what looks like a small cone shaped piece still in the fitting. How would one go about removing the other part....?

Brian, try this valve core tool, it has an easy-out on one end that should do the trick.

I have one of those but never knew what that end was even for till I googled this issue after posting here.....The end of mine is about wore out and wouldn't grab to pull it out.....I read that a #1 screw extractor works pretty good....Haven't bought one yet.

The fitting to convert to 134a have the valves already in them, well the low side ones do....My next step is to pull vacuum or pressurize the system to see where it's leaking from.....But now I need a fitting to go from 1/2" acme to 1/4" npt.
