Just got the front end aligned, heading home it felt like a slot car again until I downshifted at a light and the pedal went to the floor. Back in the driveway (thanks aaa) I see the clutch push rod end slipped off the pin (stud) on the clutch pedal arm. It suppose to be held on by a clip, no clip to be found. It appears it was clipless for a while. The clips vendors show for a 1980 pedal are not what the AIM shows. Who has a correct clip for this? If I have to take out the pedal assembly, what has to be removed to get to the top pivot retainer? Who's removed a clutch pedal that's knows the secret?
Does the whole assembly have to come down or can just the clutch pedal arm be removed?

Hi BC3,
I would spend A LOT of time trying to get the clip on the stud from below before I began the job of removing the clutch and brake pedal box!!!!!
Even consider removing the seat so you can lay on your back to see just what you're working on.
Good Luck!

Yes! Thanks, since there was no clip to begin with I didn't know what it looked like. I finally found the page in the AIM and it listed a 3712389 which I found was replaced by 3749084. Regardless, that's the clip I need to get, but with some help from somebody with smaller hands, I have a thin stainless steel washer and cotter pin in place. Honestly, right now I have more confidence in the cotter pin than that clip. I was also told that it may have come from the factory without that clip in place. Hard to believe, but....

You are amazing as to your gallery of photo's. Yes, my answer was to get the eagle scout neighbor that doesn't have the big fat hands and isn't over 6' tall, to put a washer and cotter pin in place. I did pull the instrument cluster out because it was coming out anyway due to the speedo problem. I removed the seat, put some padding on the floor and he reached right up there!! Not sure I want to put a Chinese made clip up there, I like the cotter pin.
