I am reaplacing my hooker Super comp side pipes. Too risky for the little ones. I know it seems like downsizing, but is it actually?
The summit headers compared to hooker Super comp standard headers Have 1-5/8 vs 1-3/4 tubes respectively and the summit ones are also not tuned.
Anyone have advice and experience with these? Theyre also $140 vs $500 too!
I have those summit headers, they fit fine and clear everything including rack and pinion steering. I only have a warmed over 350 and would go with the larger tubes if I had anything more.
The summit headers are a really good value. Have you checked the exhaust systems at Corvette Central, they have lots of options, including systems with headers.
That was a great video. Now you have to decide how often you visit 6500 rpm and is the extra 10 hp worth the extra money. I've got a 355 in mine now and am building a 406 to do some drag racing so I will be switching headers also. Pretty much as I suspected.
So I found a set of ceramic coated hooker Super comp headers. They are new, never used but selling at a discount because the have a penny size ding in one of the tubes. After watching all the videos, seems like the 1-3/4 is the sweet spot for header tube sizing on a 400. Also, in some of the other videos, it didn't appear the dings made an impact until they were dented "a lot"- Almost half. Performance actually got a bit better on their 350 when they did a minor ding. Lol.
