I am running voltmeter test on 72 Vette wiring. Meter has new battery and checks out good.
I have replaced all frayed wiring, installed new switches where needed, grounded where indicated and isolated the car tests into 3 sections: Rear- Interior- Engine.
I disconnected wire harness from rear after 1st test. I pulled out all fuses after interior test.
I cleaned wiring nightmare in engine compartment and installed new hood alarm switch and found the ground terminal for that.
After all this. I am , still reading a 12.5 volt drain somewhere.
Any constructive thoughts? I know finding wire shorts is a huge undertaking, but I thought someone might know another way to test.
Thank you Again.

You need to define what and where the 12.5V "drain" is. Remember some circuits are always at 12V, regardless of key position. Check your wiring diagram for circuit fuses to clock, cig lighter alarm, radio etc.
You need to find the current draw/drain. Should read less than 50-60 mA.
The usual culprit on the older C3's- is the horn relay- as it's not fused by the fuse box but rather a fusible link- so pulling all the fuses it will not be affected.
The other is the alarm-if you have disconnected the rear harness- then that's not it.
And Yes-- I apologize-- I meant"drain" not short.
Thank you.

Just trying to keep the terminology correct...because the words used to describe a problem do make a difference....and do not want anyone who may read this get confused.
