I hope you like yours alot better than i did. I hope they improved the engineering of the thing too ; i bought one and thought the plastic slides you use for the side weatherstripping was a little bit hokey. I couldnt get it to seal agaisnt the door glass, and my windows were at the maximum elevation in the door tracks . I called Thompson Astro Tops and spoke with who i think was the shope foreman . After explaining the problem , he said (and i quote ...) :" Hell, make the thing fit any way you can . Stuff some panties in the hollow weatherstripping if you have to" .
Too bad the company employs a smart aleck who doesnt care about a customers problem. Needless to say, they got thier Top back and id didnt pay for shipping .
Let me know how yours fits and if they changed the silly weatherstripping design with the piece of plastic strip youre supposed to mess with.
I really like mine, had to do a mods on the mounting points to get it to fit
right,I also cut off the trim strip and had it painted when I was repainting,
just to hot in south florida. The head room is great, makes the whole inside
feel bigger
Mine doesn't fit great either. I am thinking of going back to T-Tops. There is a lot of head room all though that's not a problem for me I'm 5'5". I do like the look of it rather then the 2 peice top.
Sorta odd, all the comments I got before buying were positive.
Never saw your original post... I would have said the same thing before you bought it.
But, don't you know that's the way it works. I've had people recommend things to me before, and then when I get them and have a complaint about it, they end up saying the same thing... maybe they want you to be in the same boat with them...
The method that the top hooks hooks up is extremely cheezy and cheap. If somebody would work on that aspect of it, it would be much better. The rubber on mine was very cheap as well.
I was actually pretty happy with mine. It sealed well enough. It never leaked or anything. The only problem I had was while removing it one day it broke in half. Also, since it can get verrrry hot down here in S.Florida the astrotop provides no comfort from direct sunlight.

Re: Astro Top Arrived Today (djunod)
I heard so much crap about the one piece unit, that I just got the two factory like units. They have plastic in them instead of glass, are much lighter and more durable than the glass ones. They mount just like factory and have been fine for over 1 year.
If you send your one piece unit back, look at getting the two piece setup, I think you will like it.
I think it is like everything some people like some stuff whhile others hate it I am one of those people that love mine.
It did take a bit to get it to seal it to the side window but that was largely in part to that fact that I had a broken brace on my regulator now it is great. Make sure that you put a few good coats of paste wax on the thing because it is acrylic and would scratch very easly.
