It's not a Corvette engine.

T = Tonawanda, NY (the GM plant where the engine was built).
01 = January
03 = 3rd day (ie 03 January)
TXA = The suffix code identifying an L-19 230HP 454 Truck engine from 1989.

The block casting number is on the top drivers side of the bell housing. It should be 359070 or 14015445 or 361959 or 14015443.

Doesn't really matter what it came from at this point. You can build it how you like it. My engine came from a truck. Its in a Vette now making over 500hp. Take it to a machine shop and tell them what you want. Or, if you have the time and tools, do it yourself. Speed is a just a question of money, how fast can you go?
Good luck.

doubt you will get a 40hp increase with those bolt on's. the heads are limiting factor. they were designed more for low end torque than horsepower. stock with the TBI was 385 ft-lbs. I assume you are not running factory fuel injection so you probably aren't even at those specs...

I'm not sure what heads the 89 truck motors had on them, probably peanut ports, but Ive seen 85 and 86 truck motors with 781s on em, which is a very good stock head.

I'm going to disagree with tim. as long as you have a good exhaust, and you choose the right cam, you should be able to get 40 hp easily.

I was looking to buy " Edelbrock Performer RPM Air-Gap Intake Manifolds 7501" or " Edelbrock Performer Intake Manifolds 3761 " I already have 750 CFM Carburetor with Manual Choke any recommendation ???

My 68 convert came with a 1978 truck NOM 454 that the PO installed. I could not get any info from him about mods to the engine, but wanted to find out power before I started modifying the engine. PO had added long tube headers, aftermarket (Chinese) intake, 750cfm QFT carb and roller rockers. When I pulled the heads and cam I found he had also added a Comp cam with .500 lift and 268/280 duration but kept stock flat top pistons. Ignition was stock points and condenser. Before I changed anything, the dyno gave 304 rwhp/349 ft/lb torque. I added a different intake, aluminum heads, bigger cam and HEI ignition and got the dyno up to 336 rwhp for about $4k in parts and my labor. If I decide to add domed pistons to increase the comp ratio, the hp will go up probably another 30-40 hp.

With the changes you propose, you should easily get your 270 hp or more. Limiting factor will be the peanut port heads and low compression pistons. Have fun!

I presumed my truck engine was a four bolt main, based on the casting number- for 3/4 and 1 ton trucks, but when I removed the oil pan found a two bolt block. Still plenty strong, but 4 bolt would have been better. Hope you get lucky and have a four bolt truck engine.
