I am looking to replace my cable on my 1970 corvette with 454 w/4-sped trans. The inner diameter of the part that attaches to the speedometer is 0.625 inches. The replacement diameter is 0.575 inches. It will not go onto the speedometer. It appears that every place I have looked, carry the same aftermarket cable. Anyone have any ideas. My old cable will slide on with no problems.
A complete cable is not very expensive. Under $30 for the cable and housing.
I got a complete cable, but it does not slide onto the speedometer like the one that came off. The new one has an inner diameter of about 0.035 inches less.
how do u remove old tach cable from behind the gauge cluster? I have new cable but cannot get my
hand or tool up behind the tach gauge? I really do
not want to pull out my gauge cluster to replace new
Tach cable??? Any suggestions or ideas on how to
unscrew old tach cable? Thanks

Remove the driver's seat and reach up there and push the 'CLIP' while a helper pulls from under the hood.
