C3 Transmission not shifting
I have a 82 CE with 55,000 miles. I have hade it for three years and have only put about 1800 miles on it. One day I had it out and it shifted hard. I took it out a couple days later and now it wont shift out of 1st gear. I checked the fluid and its clean and smells good. I have read that it doesn't have a vacuum modulator. I have also read that the TV cable could be out of adjustment. Can that happen and if so what is the proper procedure to adjust it. I have heard you can burn up the trans very quickly if not done right. Thanks for any help.

It's possible the tv valve in the trans is stuck in a position as if your were accelerating. One thing that may work is disconnect the tv cable from the accelerator linkage and pull it out by hand and let go so it snaps back in a couple times, then hook it back to the linkage at the throttle body. Have someone hold the accelerator pedal on the floor(car not running) and see if the tv cable is pulled tight. Time for a test drive to see if it helped.
