Has anyone replaced their wiper switch face decal? I have a 1981 and just purchased a new decal for the wiper switch, wondering if anyone has completed this job.
Well, I was going to replace the one in my 80 until I lost the decal behind the abyss of my sons toolbox. Easier to buy another one.
Anyway, looking at the decal (when I still had it), I was going to slit it were the toggle path was to fit over the wiper toggle shaft. Then I was going to peel some of the backing to position it and then keep peeling and smoothing as I went. Unfortunately, I can tell you if it worked.

Were you going to try and remove the old one first or install the new decal over the original?
If you have the original tag already, why do you want to put a "new" one on it? I only replace the ones that are missing.
The one I have is the original on the wiper switch and it is spider webbed. When the lights are on you can see the cracks. I wanted to replace and get rid of the cracked decal on the switch.
I replaced it recently for the same reason that you are (the wiper switch's backlight shines through the spider-webbing). It is actually a piece of cake.
1.) Remove the wiper switch bezel housing which pops off easily
2.) unscrew the round switch head
3.) perl off the old decal, including the blue plastic
4.) stick on the new decal
The main thing you need to do is make sure you get all the old decal off... and then make sure there is no debris left on the plastic face. If there is anything left on the face when you put the new one on it will show.
