Default 72 hood release not working

Passenger side release not completely releasing. How do I get it to release and how do you align the catch to stop this from reoccurring ?

Thanks,

John

Hi John,
Since the right side female latch is operated by a cable from the left side latch have you checked to see that the cable is adjusted properly so that the right side latch is being fully opened?

How tight is the hood when closed? Sometimes in adjusting the hood it's made so tight that the latch can't fully 'cycle'.

With the hood open check to see that when you cycle the LEFT side latch the right cycles.
Regards,
Alan

Make sure that the tab on the male latch is pushing the tab on the female latch so it move the lever far enough to pull the cable to open the right side latch.

Thanks Allen, It seems to be cycling correctly but Ill check again once I get the hood completely opened. Any advice on getting it opened?

on my 79 I have a plugged hole behind both latches thats used to open stuck hoods. Check and see if you have one and get a screwdriver or something in there and trip the latch.

Hi John,
Have you tried having someone push down on the right rear corner of the hood to take the pressure off the latch while you pull the release in the car?
Regards,
Alan
