Default 1971 auxiliary fuse block

I am adding several editions to the 71 throughout my upgrade process, i.e. vintage air, high-performance stereo. Rather, Then to do a bunch of electrical splicing, I will be installing a painless wiring Seventh Circuit auxiliary fuse block. I am strongly considering installing this fuse block in the rear center compartment and running the wires along the side of the transmission tunnel To their applicable components.

Basically, I'm just curious as to the best location as space seems to be extremely limited on these C-3 Corvettes. Any comments or observations would be greatly appreciated.

You know that was my first thought although I'm installing a vintage air unit and I'm not quite sure how much room will be left to accommodate the additional fuse block.

I went for the rear compartment, added RCA cables and stereo amp wiring. The relay feeds elec fuel pump, keyed from sw ign.

That setup looks really professional, thank you for the picture. The setup you have, illustrates more along the lines of my original thinking. Can you still get the little tray in their? Not that that's really important to me.

THANKS, glad it helped. Tray will not fit, its tight. But its accessible. I had a small chassis and mounted the fuse panel, relay and terminal block to it. Then mounted and wired it up.. Good spot to pick off constant battery without adding more drain to stock wiring.

I found these combo relay/fuse holder that's totally configurable. Nice, compact and look really professional.

Each relay socket has up to three fuses- or don't even have to use a relay -many ways to set them up

They slide together and interlock. I used fuses with LED so you'll be able to see them in a dark compartment.

I used all over my car- even replaced the OEM fusebox with them

Richard454's relay blocks look exactly like the ones that come in Danial Sterns headlight relay kit minus the fuse sections. I wish they had come with the fuse section and after seeing them I may get some and change up.
How big is your aux fuse block? Can't you install it directly in the battery compartment if you have any thinking of keeping the center storage compartment? I think I could find the room in mine if it's not that big.

I added an additional fuse box and relay for ignition switched power. I placed it on the driver side lower firewall. Covered all wires with high temp conduit.

The one thing that I always take into consideration is that where ever I put an electrical center. I put it in a location that will make servicing it a breeze.

Taking the time to do this initially will pay off in the long run when you have to get to it and check things an service things in it if needed.

And....if you are going to be running power wires to this fuse panel and those power wires are not protected with a fuse or fusible link. Make sure that you really protect those wires from any possibility of them becoming damaged and exposed and able to touch anything metal on the car that is a ground.
